For our last day in the country, we decided to explore the markets. First, we went to a local food market where they have every fruit, vegetable, and meat available. We took the mopeds there!
After looking around, we packed up our belongings at Caitlyn’s and took the train back to Kunming. When we arrived, we headed to the Bird and Flower market downtown. Here, you can find a ton of vendors and places to eat.
We stopped at a scroll shop! You can pick any hand painted scroll or painting that you’d like and the man will paint any verse on it. Taylor got a scroll for himself and one to give as a Christmas gift!
After we were done at the scroll shop, we headed to Emerald Lake. It was a beautiful day to stroll around for awhile. When visiting, you will find multiple pagodas, vendors, and breathtaking views. When the weather is warmer, you can even take a boat ride around!
When we were done exploring, we went to our hotel and called it a night because we had to be up early for our flight back to Thailand, where we would catch our plane back to the United States.
We had no problems entering Thailand or China, but when we were leaving, the Chinese security really didn’t think my passport photo was me!! Given, there is a few years and a few pounds difference in my appearance, you could definitely tell the picture was me. Thankfully, after several minutes, they let me through.
We were exhausted from all the traveling and very excited to return home for Christmas!
